Ueno Park
Mie Prefecture: An octagonal hall shaped by Basho's traveling attire, with a roof of Japanese cypress bark. In the hall is an Iga ceramic statue of Basho. It has been designated a city cultural asset. It was constructed in 1942 for the 300th anniversary of Basho's birth. The statue of Basho is open for viewing only for the Basho Festival, held on October 12.
